Frequently Asked Questions

How do we, the VAR, get paid?

Simple. You will invoice your customer per your contract with them. Then SecureDynamics will invoice you for, presumably, less than you are charging the customer. 

What are the prerequisites for selling?
  • Be a registered Zscaler partner in the U.S. (or Canada, if able to transact in USD)

 

How do we co-manage, exactly?

Most of the work is actually going to be done by SecureDynamics, so the co-management really boils down to the following:

  • Customer Relationship, whereby the customer continues to see you as their value-added partner, with SecureDynamics only there to serve them on your behalf.
  • Ticket Flow: We keep you in the loop on all trouble tickets and proactive changes. 
  • Consulting: As much as needed, we will join you on your regularly scheduled customer calls to showcase the ongoing value. 
How are bandwidth overages accounted for?

Zscaler provides SecureDynamics a monthly report showing how much bandwidth is being used for each customer (as an average across all users). From there we take one of 2 possible actions for any customer exceeding an average of 6GB/user/month:

  • Bypass Traffic: SecureDynamics will evaluate which traffic is the safest to bypass without causing security concerns and where the volume would bring the amount back under the limit. The customer and partner would both be informed of this change. 
  • Traffic Surcharge: For those customers who actually require the extra traffic to go through Zscaler, will continue to add the overage charge to the monthly invoice, providing any utilization reports upon request. 

In any case, SecureDynamics must pay Zscaler for any oversubscribed bandwidth, so that will be reflected on the following month's invoice. 

What happens if the customer doesn't pay?

We will work with you, the VAR, in good faith to resolve the non-paying customer so that your company can recover. 

VAR Pays: If the customer doesn't pay you, then SecureDynamics still requires the payment (to pay Zscaler for the subscription), which means that you will be paying for the customer's usage. In other words, you are implicitly extending credit to your customer.  In such cases, you may formally request that we suspend the customer's use of Zscaler. 

Always remember, SecureDynamics is your distribution partner, not a competing Zscaler VAR, so taking any customer "direct" is not an option. We can, however, work together to migrate the customer to another Zscaler VAR, should your business relationship with the customer require that.
