Bloomberg Connectivity in Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA)

About Bloomberg

Bloomberg is a leading global provider of financial data, analytics, trading platforms, and news. The Bloomberg Terminal and related services are mission-critical tools for financial institutions, investment firms, and corporate clients who rely on real-time market data and secure communications.

Why Connectivity Issues Occur?

Bloomberg applications use a wide range of dedicated IP addresses and dynamic TCP/UDP ports to deliver real-time data feeds, secure messaging, and trading services. In environments secured by Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), these connections may fail if:

  • Bloomberg IP ranges are not explicitly allowed.
  • Required source/destination ports are not open.
  • Firewall rules or SSL inspection policies block Bloomberg traffic.

Without proper configuration, users may experience Bloomberg Terminal login failures, delays in receiving data feeds, or inability to execute transactions.

Technical Overview

To resolve connectivity issues, Bloomberg requires specific IP ranges, ports, and firewall rules to be configured within ZIA. This article provides detailed steps to configure ZIA to allow Bloomberg traffic.

Step 1: Add Bloomberg IPs to ZIA - Navigate to Administration > IP & FQDN Groups in the ZIA portal. - Create a group named Bloomberg_Allow and add all Bloomberg destination IPv4 addresses provided in below section (Refer Figure1 for configuration)

Step 2: Configure Network Services - Add required TCP/UDP Source and Destination ports under Administration > Network Services (Refer Figure 2.1 & 2.2 for configuration)

TCP Ports

  • Source Ports:

8194–8395
49152–65535
  • Destination Ports:

Step 3: Create Firewall Control Rule

Create rule Allow Bloomberg Services with:

  • Destination IPV4 groups: Map Bloomberg_Allow (Created in Step1)
  • Configured TCP/UDP ports (Map it under Network Services)
  • Action: Allow - Place this rule at the top of the firewall policy (Refer Figure 3 for configuration)

Step 4: Validate Bloomberg Connectivity - Test Bloomberg Terminal login.

Conclusion

By correctly adding Bloomberg’s IP ranges, configuring the necessary TCP/UDP ports, and prioritizing the firewall control rule in ZIA, you can ensure seamless access to Bloomberg services. This configuration ensures that users have reliable access to Bloomberg’s mission-critical services through ZIA.
